More than 10 years ago I became vegetarian/vegan, while working for the Ministry of Health as Senior Officer for cooperation with our European Union institutions and the United Nations (UN) World Health Organization (WHO) I came across a lot of publicly available information about how damaging consumption of meat is for our health and environment.
Together with my spiritual pursuits and increasing awareness about the unbelievably horrible conditions animals live in the meat and dairy industry, it meant only one thing, I have to go plant-based.
Growing up as a basketball player in Europe and the USA, my age Vice-Champion of Northern Europe and National Champion of Latvia twice with two different teams, that was quite a shift.
Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I have made for my physical and mental health. Additionally, contrary to the popular belief that along with my health I will lose my strength and muscle mass, I have improved both quite substantially.
All of this vast experience now lets me take you on the same journey I went on and help you not only improve your short and long term health through appropriate plant-based diet, but also be a fit and strong vegan.
